Khanacross

A Khanacross is a competition involving a series of timed tests, usually less than a kilometre in length, with no layout used more than twice and the maximum straight length of 90 meters, (to keep speeds down).

Cars compete individually against the clock and start from a stationary position in the start garage and must finish in a stationary position in a finish garage. (A garage is usually defined by 6 witch’s hats).

Each test is designed to test the acceleration, braking and general maneuverability of the vehicle and the skill and judgement of the driver. Penalties are added for hitting track markers, failing to stop in the garage or going the wrong way. Usually we run 6 to 8 tests throughout the day and all times are counted towards the total for the event.

Khanacross is considered the next step up from Motorkhanas and introduces higher speeds, whilst not requiring any vehicle modification. Cars only need basic safety gear like belts and a fire extinguisher.

Junior competitors can compete from age 12 although it is recommended that juniors should have built up some experience in Motorkhanas before attempting Khanacross. The next logical step from Khanacross is Autocross.
