Off Road events are defined as long course events that are conducted on a track of usually greater than 15 kilometres in length, although the Bendigo Car Club runs a short course event on a 5km circuit. The courses and tracks used are often narrow, twisting, tree lined tracks, undulating farmland tracks, mountain tracks and river crossings, sometimes incorporating man made jumps and other obstacles.
Off Road also allows multiple vehicles on the track at once so drivers and navs have to contend with dust, mud and other vehicles. Off road vehicles are typically purpose built with a concentration on wheel travel to allow them to jump and straddle large objects.
